January Favorites!

Soo it's February now so time for my monthly favorites post!
*If you have any questions on any products don't hesitate to comment below~

1.  Rimmel Stay Matte liquid mousse foundation (Walgreens)
This is actually the first foundation I've ever used!
It's pretty new and every where I went, it was sold out so when I found it at Walgreens I just had to get it.
I love how lightweight this foundation is, the mousse texture is so cool!
If you want good coverage without that heavy make-up feeling, I totally recommend this product.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.  e.l.f. Countouring Blush & Bronzer in St. Lucia (Target)
Okay, so I've wanted the NARS orgasm blush and bronzer duo for the longest time but it's just so freaking expensive!
So when I saw this online I was soo happy.
Only cost me $3.
Love this blush and I probably would love the bronzer but it's a bit too dark for my skin tone but I still love this duo.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.  MAC Huggable Lipcolour in Red Necessity (MAC cosmetics)
OH MY GOODNESS GUYS.
I have been looking all over for the perfect red lipstick, and as you can probably tell, I've found it.
I can't even explain how much I love it.
From the packaging to the product itself, just pure perfection.
It even smells good!
It also doesn't dry my lips, it's actually quite moisturizing.
It was pretty expensive for a lipstick (~$20) but it isn't just any lipstick!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
4.  Macadamia Deep Repair Masque (Target)
Worth. The. Hype.
Yes, it is $30 but guess what, I got it for about $17 online at Target!
I'm trying to grow my hair out by summer so I've been take extra good care of my hair so I bought this in hopes that it would heal my hair.
I've seen so much improvement.  My hair is always so soft after I use this.
(I use this twice a week.)

1. PINK 32 oz. water bottle (VS)
I try to drink at least 2 bottles of water every day.
This is on my nightstand and I take it to school.
Drinking water is soo important and with a pretty bottle like this, I'm sure to drink more H2O.
--------------------------------------------------------
2.  Rifle Paper Company phone case (Anthropologie)
I am in love with this case!
It's really hard for me to find cute cases for my phone so when I saw this at Anthropologie I immediately bought it!
It is two layers, the inside is a soft gummy case for support and then the hard shell on the outside.
--------------------------------------------------------
3.  Quilted Barn Vest in navy (Old Navy)
I saw so many cute vests on Pinterest so I was on the hunt for a nice vest, obvi.
So I spotted this one and it was sold out online and in most stores but fortunately at my mall there was one just in my size!  Yay!
Super cute with flannels, sweaters, etc.  I'll definitely be styling this soon on an upcoming post.

T.V. and Music Favorites

1.  The Mindy Project
OMG favorite show at the moment. Soo funny, I've never laughed so much.
Love all the characters!  Can't wait till April!
----------------------------------------------------------
2.  Hoodie Allen: All American album
Obviously not new but I've been listening to this album a lot lately.
My favorite songs from the album are
-No interruption
-No faith in Brooklyn
-Small Town
---------------------------------------------------------
3.  Beyoncé: XO
Of course, the queen had to make my list.
Love this song.
And how boss is she, that right now blogger just corrected her name with the accent when I typed her name without it. (mind blown)
---------------------------------------------------------
4.  Yelle: Ce Jeu
From the album Pop Up.
A French song that is soo catchy!
I wish I could whistle though..haha
---------------------------------------------------------
5. Youngblood Hawke: We come running
A great indie song, if you haven't heard this, check it out!
---------------------------------------------------------

Nuts and Berries Greek Yogurt! Yum~

My first food post!  So if any of you follow me on instagram (hanners_94) you know I love my greek yogurt...

This is an easy thing I make in the mornings for breakfast or just as a snack.  It's not really a recipe or anything because this is something anyone can make, I'm just showing what I like to put together in my yogurt. :)

So let's get started!

Things you'll need~
-Berries of your choice, I used raspberries and blueberries (my fave!)
-Greek Yogurt (mine's vanilla flavored Light &Fit)
-Trail mix with low sodium (mine's from Sam's Club, WildRoot's Forest Berry)
-Chia seeds (high in omega-3's and fiber, mine's from Costco but they sell them at most grocery stores now since they are pretty popular now)
read more about the benefits of these seeds --> Chia Seed Article

1.  Wash your berries with cold water and baking soda. (Obviously)
2.  Fill your bowl with the greek yogurt
3.  (optional step)  my trail mix came with yogurt chips that look like white chocolate chips, I stuffed one of these chips in each raspberry for extra sweetness!
4. Throw in the berries and trail mix nuts into the yogurt
5. Sprinkle chia seeds
6. Done. Enjoy!

Eating berries everyday is great for your health.  This a delicious way to do just that.  Please read about Chia Seeds because they are amazing for you.  The seeds are so small and they don't taste like anything so I don't see why you wouldn't add it into your regular diet.
Hope you guys found this helpful and stay healthy!

"But he cautioned, "You should only eat a small amount, maximum one ounce a day."
That's because chia is very high in fiber, which in large quantities can cause stomach upset.
"Chia will keep you fuller longer and prevent you from overeating. You have that feeling of fullness in your stomach because when you wet chia seeds, they form a gelatinous substance that takes longer to digest.
"You'll overeat less and tend to snack less. If you eat chia before a meal, you'll eat less at the next meal. It packs a nutritional punch without adding a lot of food to your diet."
And while the drinks in particular are convenient and filling, Goldberg does not recommend them as a meal replacement. "There's not enough nutrients and calories. What I would say is, it's a great addition." "

DIY Quote Canvas

So recently I was browsing through Pinterest, as always, and I saw the quote "More issues than Vogue" and I thought it was the coolest thing ever.  The idea of making wall art with that quote popped up when I realized I had a spare canvas laying around.  Very inexpensive room décor to spice up any room.  Great for gifting a friend their favorite quote or a motivation quote for someone in need of it.  ^_^
Spread the love <3

----------------------------------------------------------------
So here's what you'll need:
  • Canvas, mines 8" x 10"
--> http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/artist-multi-pack-canvas-528497/
  • Wrapping paper
  • Double-sided tape
  • Printer-ink-A4 paper
  • Scissors/exacto knife
  • Mod podge
  • Brush
  • Nail and hammer/Command damage-free strips
--> http://www.target.com/p/3m-command-damage-free-hanging-large-picture-hanging-strips-4-ct/-/A-14568160#prodSlot=medium_1_27&term=command+hook

Let's get started~

1.  Find a quote you love <3
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.   I went on Word and typed the quote and used the font I thought would fit well with the style of the quote.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.  Enlarge the font size to your liking so that it fits on your canvas.
(Don't worry if you print it and it turns out too big or too small, just flip that same paper over and feed it back into the printer after resizing it again, this way you won't waste paper because it'll just print again on the backside of the same piece of paper)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4.  Next step is to either use scissors or an exacto knife to cut out each letter.  This can get really tedious...but it'll be worth it later I promise!  For any small crevices in the letters you can use nail scissors.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5.  Cut out enough of the wrapping paper of your choice to cover the front of the canvas and a little extra room to cover the sides, top and bottom of the canvas. Like shown in the picture below.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6.  Fold over the wrapping paper on the canvas just as if you're wrapping a present, grab some
double-sided tape to secure the paper onto the canvas.  If you want a more sturdy and permanent artwork, I recommend using a staple gun to hold the paper down firmly.

7.  Then take a brush and mod podge each letter carefully onto the front of the canvas.  Make sure the letters all fit onto the canvas as you've arranged them.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8.  Let it dry for about 40 mins. then go in with another layer of mod podge over the letters, don't worry mod podge dries clear!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9.  After letting your artwork dry for an hour or so, it's ready to hang on your wall!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
10.   hammer a push pin or nail into the wall to hang it up but if you live in a dorm or apartment, I recommend getting the Command damage-free strips and just stick them on the wall.

And voila!  C'est fini! Step back and admire :)

Next up will be a fashion-related post, then my January Favorites!  So stay tuned and see ya'll soon!

December 2013 Favorites!

Hope everyone had a great holiday celebration and a happy new year!

So a monthly favorite will be a regular post on this blog, every month I will list my favorite items from the last month whether it's food, fashion, beauty, music, and other random things I found myself using a lot that month.

So let's get started!

BEAUTY PRODUCTS

Hydrate your skin during the cold and dry season!

(From left to right)
AVOJUICE Skin Quenchers:Jasmine Juicie from OPI
I use this as a hand cream especially after washing my hands, it's such a relaxing scent and easy to use with the pump.
Pond's Dry Skin Cream from Target
When I saw this at Target I knew I had to get it!  During the cold weather seasons, our skin easily dries up, I found that this facial moisturizer works wonders, I love using this after cleansing my face.
Paris amour body lotion from Bath & BodyWorks
Okay, I know there are a lot of winter scents at B&BW but I have fallen in love with this scent.  The packaging is not only GORG but they described it as a beautiful scent with a dreamy blend of French tulips, apple blossoms, and sparkling pink champagne touched with sandalwood and creamy musk. Um..if that doesn't sound good I don't know what does.  It's such a girly and romantic scent, if romance had a scent? Haha.  Paris amour, je t'aime. <3

 A Clarisonic dupe??

Olay Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System from Sam's Club
I've heard so much about the Clarisonic Mia Skin Cleansing System which retails around $125-150.  This one that I have from Olay was $50!  It came with the exfoliating renewal cleanser, a brush head, a foam head, and a polisher.  I have been using it twice a week and I have seen so much improvement!  My skin feels so soft and clean.  It's also water-proof so I can take it in the shower with me.  This is such a great alternative to the Clarisonic.

Makeup time!

(From left to right)
Shiseido Urban Environment UV Protection Cream SPF 40
This is my favorite sunscreen!  It's very light and doesn't have a weird sunscreen scent.  It protects my face and a great size for traveling.
NYX stay matte but not flat powder foundation
I use this as a powder finish after I've done all my makeup, it keeps my face looking matte and oil-free.
NYX photo-loving primer
This is my first primer and I have to say I'm in love.  NYX is not a high-end make-up brand but this does the job for me.  It really makes my skin so soft and it perfectly primes my face for my foundation.  It keeps my make-up lasting longer than before.

Lip products are my fave.

(From left to right then bottom)
Herbalife Skin Activator: Lip Refiner
This revives my dry and chapped lips the moment it touches my lips, it's insane.
eos mint lip balm
This was my first eos lip balm and I've had it since Senior year of high school.  I just love the tingly minty sensation on my lips and I think it's a great little lip balm to carry around.
Maybelline Color Sensational in BlissfulBerry 410
OKAY GUYS, THIS IS MY FAVORITE LIP STICK COLOR.  It's a dark red/purple color and I just love it.  It comes off when I drink or eat but the tint lasts pretty long, it really brings out my whole look and yeah like I said I LOVE IT.
Christian Dior: Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm
A bit on the pricier end since this is a high-end make-up brand but some may say it's worth it, like me.  It's a light pink color and it really smoothens my lips and brings out a healthy glow.  The best way to describe what this does is that it brings out my natural lip color and makes it so much better looking.

I think I remember those eyes, eyes, eyes, eyes, eyes, eyes.

(Counterclockwise)
Kara Dium Waterproof eyeliner pen
So easy to apply and doesn't smudge, this product is from Korea but any eyeliner pen would work similarly.
Lancôme Hypnose Waterproof mascara
The mascara makes my eye lashes have great volume.
Tony Moly Goddess Style Gold Eye Shadow Stick
Also a Korean product but I've seen all types of eye shadow sticks at drug stores.  I am especially in love with this light gold color.  A brush isn't necessary!  I apply it to the inner corner of my eyes and basically outline the top and bottom lash line.  This really highlights and gives my eyes a nice glow.
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser
For under-eye coverage, it really does a good job of erasing my dark circles!

For long locks

 organix anti-breakage serum from Wal-Mart
I believe I've seen this at Target too, I got it on sale for $3.  It's quite small but I'm really glad I got it.  I have super damaged hair because I got a perm and dyed it.  Then went to California in the summer where the heat just messed up my hair.  I've been out looking for products to restore my hair.  I've always had a problem of hair breakage so I decided to try this out and oh my goodness, it smells like coconuts and makes my hair so smooth and look so shiny/healthy.  I apply it to the bottom of my hair after towel-drying my hair then comb through my hair to evenly distribute the product.  I'm trying to grow my hair out and I think using this will help grow my hair healthy. I've also noticed less hair fall out so yeah, pretty awesome.

RANDOM FAVORITES

Candles burnin'

Sparkling Icicles, Buttercream Mint, Winter Candy Apple candles from Bath & Body Works
Okay, I couldn't choose one favorite candle so I chose 3...
They all smell wonderful!  Sparkling Icicles kind of smells like a really fresh cologne.
Buttercream mint smells just like the name says.
Winter Candy Apple is a really girly/fruity scent that makes me hungry.

My kind of dinner: Chocolate and coffee..

Snowflake Clear mug from Crate&Barrel
I have so many Christmas mugs but this one is my favorite because it's so simple!
My tea, hot chocolate, coffee, milk looks great in it.
Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark
My favorite holiday chocolate treat!

FASHION ITEMS

Let's get cozy!

Pom pom beanie from H&M
Such a great accessory to "top" off a winter outfit and it keeps your head warm!
Pink stone pendant necklace from American Eagle Outfitters
When I saw this I was drawn to it because the chain is a beautiful rose gold color and it gives off a vintage vibe, it brings subtle color to an outfit.
Penguin/bird slippers from Urban Outfitters
Gotta keep your feet warm!
Boot socks from Target
I layer these and they pop out of my combat boots and it looks adorbs.

ON THE GO

Kate Spade New York mini wallet
A POP of color and great for on the go, I just have my credit card and driver's license so I can just go to the grocery store without taking a big wallet.
The inside lining is so cute, black polka dots!
Structured Camel Cross-body bag from Forever21
Probably the most inexpensive bag I own but I'm getting great use out of it.  I love how versatile the color and design of the bag.  Not too roomy inside but great for just carrying the essentials.

 THE PERFECT HOLIDAY FLANNEL

 Flannel from Urban Outfitters
Brand: BDG
I love the greens and reds in this flannel.  I think that a flannel is a must-have during the fall and winter.  It's so great for layering and it keeps you warm.  I love the oversized fit and length of this flannel so if I'm lazy, which I always am, I can just throw on some leggings.

That's it for my December 2013 Favorites!  I know this was a really long post, my monthly favorites will not be as long as this one but around this time of year there is so much going on!

Hope you enjoyed it and I'll talk to you soon on my next monthly favorites. <3
